About Us
Welcome to the Body Image, Sexuality, and Health (BISH) lab in the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University! Under the direction of Aaron J. Blashill, Ph.D., the lab focuses its research on the role body image plays in influencing health behaviors (e.g., eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, suicide behaviors, sexual risk behaviors, HIV medication adherence, anabolic steroid misuse, and skin cancer risk behaviors). We are also interested in sexual orientation and gender identity health disparities. We mostly work with sexual and gender minority individuals (e.g., LGBTQ+ populations) and also work with adolescents, emerging adults, and individuals living with HIV.

Announcements
We are very excited to welcome a new group of post-doctoral fellows, research coordinators, and research assistants over the summer and fall of 2021.
As of May 2020, Drs. Blashill and Wells were awarded a grant on suicide prevention in sexual and gender minority youth.
Congratulations to four of our former lab members that have been accepted to graduate school.
